Optimize Your Shops Macro Programs to Boost Productivity
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL, August 18, 2022 -
When talking about machine tool maintenance the first thing that comes to mind is often the mechanical aspects. From adjusting accuracy, changing oil and filters, and even cleaning the machine. With most machine tools equipped with CNC controllers, reminders of this type of maintenance are usually programmed to pop up without much afterthought to keep things running smoothly. But what about maintenance on the CNC programs themselves?
Performing maintenance on CNC programs is often complex, requiring technical skills and ample time. Many times this has to be done by the machine tool manufacturer and only happens when new functions are developed. Furthermore, without new CNC functions, you can not create new CNC programs. All this leaves few ways to reduce processing time and operators unable to take full advantage of a wide range of features. This is where Shibaura Machine’s proprietary TOSNUC 999 Macro Programming Function can be leveraged.
Improve Productivity with Macro Programming
Macro Programming Function has the ability to call custom macros, improving upon or replacing existing codes altogether. Many shops will use the Macro Programming Function to shorten the cutting time. By being able to create their own cycles more easily, operators can not only improve process maintenance and reduce downtime but improve overall productivity.
For example, a customer came to us wanting to improve the machining method of parts. Instead of developing a special software as a CNC function, we proposed using the Macro Programming Function as a solution to shorten the machining time. The customer was then able to create a macro program in consideration of how to use the various CNC functions to fit that specific purpose, optimizing the machining program.
Macro Programming Function allows shops to easily create their own routines to accommodate specific jobs. By taking time to review your machine tool’s macro programs, your shop will not only improve cutting time but in turn, boost productivity.
