Shibaura Machine to Acquire Moore Nanotechnology Systems through its US Subsidiary, Expanding Nano Processing Capabilities
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL. — May 19, 2026 — Shibaura Machine Company, America announces that SHIBAURA MACHINE CO., LTD.’s Board of Directors has approved the acquisition of all capital stock of Moore Nanotechnology Systems, LLC (“Nanotech”) by Shibaura Machine Group. Upon closing, Nanotech will become a subsidiary of Shibaura Machine Company, America and will support the continued expansion of the company’s Nano Processing segment.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen and expand Shibaura Machine’s Nano Processing segment by combining Nanotech’s established expertise in single-point diamond turning, micro-milling, micro-grinding, glass press molding, and advanced optical component manufacturing with Shibaura Machine’s engineering resources, operational scale, customer support infrastructure, and long-term commitment to advanced manufacturing.
Founded in 1997 and headquartered in Swanzey, New Hampshire, Moore Nanotechnology Systems has grown into a recognized global leader in the design, development, and manufacturing of state-of-the-art ultra-precision machine tools. The company serves customers across optics, aerospace, defense, medical, automotive, lighting, and consumer electronics markets, with more than 1,000 ultra-precision machining systems delivered to customers in over 30 countries.
“As the world’s markets continue to develop, finding the right strategic partnerships is essential,” said Mark Boomgarden, President and CEO of Moore Nanotechnology Systems. “Partnering with Shibaura Machine allows us to combine the true competencies of both organizations under one management team — affording both companies the ability to scale resources and invest on a global stage like never before.”

Through our combined resources, Nanotech will continue to accelerate its next round of technology and product development, serving our many customers around the world.”
Through this acquisition, Shibaura Machine expects to enhance its Nano Processing capabilities, broaden its support for customers in North America, Europe, and other global markets, and further advance ultra-precision manufacturing solutions for industries that require high-performance optical, reflective, and precision-engineered components. The transaction is also expected to create opportunities to improve product development efficiency, share technical resources, strengthen service capabilities, and expand technical center functions in the United States.
“The acquisition of Nanotech will create a more competitive company in the global ultra-precision industry by combining the complementary strengths of our core businesses to provide cutting-edge products and technologies to our customers,” said Shigetomo Sakamoto, President, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of SHIBAURA MACHINE CO., LTD. “Going forward, we will focus on further developing markets outside East Asia for nano processing products, including North America and Europe.”
The transaction is valued at approximately US$150 million, subject to adjustments based on liabilities and cash on hand at the time of acquisition. The closing is expected in the second half of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and the satisfaction of customary closing conditions.
