Join Shibaura Machine at PTXPO 2026

March 17-19, 2026 | Booth 223 | Rosemont, IL

Shibaura Machine Company, America is pleased to announce our participation at PTXPO-2026, North America’s comprehensive showcase of cutting edge technologies and innovations within the Plastic Industry on  March 17-19 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL. Shibaura Machine will showcase a complete, modern high-speed molding cell producing polypropylene shampoo flip-top caps in sub-9 second cycle times. The live demonstration features a high-speed Stack Teck mold with servo-driven in-mold cap closing—eliminating hydraulics and pneumatics for cleaner, quieter operation, reduced maintenance, and improved precision and repeatability. An integrated automation system performs 100% visual inspection before parts exit the cell, highlighting a fully electric, quality-assured solution ideal for packaging, automotive, medical, consumer goods, and other production environments.

Servo-Driven, Sub-9 Second Cap Molding Live at PTXPO 2026

At PTXPO 2026, Shibaura Machine will run a live demonstration of a high-speed molding cell featuring a servo-driven Stack Teck mold producing shampoo flip-top caps with ultra-fast cycling. The mold incorporates servo-driven actuators for in-mold cap closing—eliminating hydraulics and pneumatics entirely. Removing hydraulic and air systems enables a cleaner, quieter operation with reduced maintenance demand, improved precision and repeatability, and no risk of leaks or air line contamination within the production cell.

The system will operate at sub-9 second cycle times, highlighting world-class productivity and efficient high-speed part handling. Using polypropylene (PP), the process demonstrates excellent stability and consistent part weight at elevated production rates. Caps are closed directly in the mold via controlled servo actuation, delivering consistent closure force and uniform hinge performance—key attributes for flip-top functionality and repeatable downstream performance.

To complete the modern manufacturing approach, integrated automation performs 100% visual inspection to verify cap quality before parts exit the cell. This demonstration brings together servo-driven in-mold movements, an all-electric machine platform, and automated quality assurance to showcase energy-efficient servo motion, tight process control, high-precision closure forming, and reduced cycle time through coordinated, simultaneous servo movements between the mold and machine.

Completing the smart cell, the molding machine, Star robot, Dri-Air high-performance portable dryer, and smart water manifolds are monitored through machineNetCloud IIoT, providing real-time OEE, remote service and operation, alerts, runtime status, and customizable dashboards with automated reporting.

machiNetCloud and LEO: Your Path to Industry 4.0 with Connected AI

machiNetCloud is Shibaura Machine’s next-generation IIoT platform designed to unlock smarter, more profitable plastics and injection molding operations. It securely connects your machines and auxiliary equipment, streams real-time production and condition data, and transforms it into clear, action-ready dashboards—giving your teams instant visibility into performance, quality drivers, and opportunities to optimize every shift.

And it doesn’t stop at visibility. With LEO, our advanced predictive analytics engine, machiNetCloud helps you move from reactive fixes to proactive reliability—spotting early warning signs, delivering health scores, and triggering intelligent alerts before issues become downtime. The result is fewer surprises, faster troubleshooting, higher OEE, and a scalable foundation for continuous improvement—whether you’re connecting one press or building a fully connected factory.

SPAL Automotive

SPAL Automotive is an Italian company based in Correggio (RE), founded in 1959 and specialized in the production of electromechanical components for the automotive industry. The company works in the design, production and global trade of axial and centrifugal electric fans for cars, motorcycles, buses, off-road vehicles, earthmoving machines, agricultural tractors, trucks and industrial equipment. Starting in 2013, SPAL began its collaboration with EPF, focusing on the fully electric Shibaura Machine injection molding machines. This collaboration has created a real production department consisting of 21 injection molding machines with a capacity from 50 to 1800 tons. The advantages of working with EPF are: a longer cycle time and the possibility of increasing production capacity, a quieter department, lower consumption compared to hydraulic injection molding machines and more streamlined logistics.

INVAT

INVAT is a leading international player in the closures sector for metal, glass, and PET, producing over 500 million pieces annually. In its new factory, the company has adopted Shibaura Machine full electric injection molding machines (II/III series) and has experienced numerous advantages, from repeatability and ease of cleaning to precision in molding and significant reductions in production costs. EPF Plastic compared two injection molding machines of the same tonnage in the INVAT molding department—one fully electric (EC350SXIII) and the other a new generation hydraulic model from a competitor. With the same mold and molding conditions, we observed significant energy savings, all confirmed by a series of measurements conducted on the machines.
