Engineered for Medical Precision, Cleanroom Performance, and Efficiency
At MD&M West 2026 (February 3–5, Booth #4339), Shibaura Machine will showcase a fully integrated, automated, high-speed medical molding cell built around the EC110SXIIIV70- S-Concept medical-spec injection molding machine running an 8-cavity dose cup mold provided by CacoPacific, targeting a sub-7-second cycle time.
Shibaura Machine Medical Spec Injection Molding Machine includes upgraded Stainless Steel guarding and bracketry, plated platens, raised platform, anti-microbial paint with the ability to add HEPA filtration for clean room operations, S-Cube x Resin Viscosity measurement reduces defects and environmental impact, S-Concept faster dry cycle times for improved uptime and production, S-Concept heater barrel cover for improved heat retention to improve energy efficiency and minimize power usage, V70 controller power consumption monitoring to improve efficiency and monitor environmental impact, all features are critical for the medical molding industry. Parts are extracted by a Star Automation TW-800HMVII-620B high-speed robot with the latest 620B controller, fully integrated to the V70 controller, and equipped with lightweight carbon-fiber End of Arm Tooling.
The robot places parts into a secondary machine-side automation system with two operational nests: Nest 1 utilizes two high-speed Shibaura Machine THE600 SCARA robots with TS5000-MS controllers to demonstrate machine-side sortation, packing, or stacking at speeds that keep pace with high-output molding, reducing material handling, increasing productivity, and minimizing scrap between QA inspections; Nest 2 features a TVL700 six-axis robot with a TSL3100 controller performing on-demand vision inspection and cavity sortation to preserve batch and lot integrity critical for medical components.
Both the Star robot and secondary automation are directly tied into the V70 controller, delivering seamless, single-point operation for molders. Completing the smart cell, the molding machine, Star robot, Dri-Air high-performance portable dryer, and smart water manifolds are monitored through machineNetCloud IIoT, providing real-time OEE, remote service and operation, alerts, runtime status, and customizable dashboards with automated reporting.

Customer Stories From Around The World
VDI Manufacturing
VDI Manufacturing is a veteran-owned company whose primary mission is Production Injection Molding, Assembly, and Tooling. In addition, offers a full complement of prototyping services including: design assistance, 3D printing, quick-turn aluminum tooling, and prototype molding. VDI also offers an on-site ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Accredited Metrology Lab to certify quality and dimensions on every project. VDI’s collective experience dates back to the 1980s and is backed by state-of-the-art, Shibaura Machine all-electric molding machines, and automated processes.
SPAL Automotive
SPAL Automotive is an Italian company based in Correggio (RE), founded in 1959 and specialized in the production of electromechanical components for the automotive industry. The company works in the design, production and global trade of axial and centrifugal electric fans for cars, motorcycles, buses, off-road vehicles, earthmoving machines, agricultural tractors, trucks and industrial equipment. Starting in 2013, SPAL began its collaboration with EPF, focusing on the fully electric Shibaura Machine injection molding machines. This collaboration has created a real production department consisting of 21 injection molding machines with a capacity from 50 to 1800 tons. The advantages of working with EPF are: a longer cycle time and the possibility of increasing production capacity, a quieter department, lower consumption compared to hydraulic injection molding machines and more streamlined logistics.
INVAT
INVAT is a leading international player in the closures sector for metal, glass, and PET, producing over 500 million pieces annually. In its new factory, the company has adopted Shibaura Machine full electric injection molding machines (II/III series) and has experienced numerous advantages, from repeatability and ease of cleaning to precision in molding and significant reductions in production costs. EPF Plastic compared two injection molding machines of the same tonnage in the INVAT molding department—one fully electric (EC350SXIII) and the other a new generation hydraulic model from a competitor. With the same mold and molding conditions, we observed significant energy savings, all confirmed by a series of measurements conducted on the machines.
